Eve of the day after the day before April Fools'.
Day6423
Well, that does make sense, the title that is.
Tomorrow is not only International Fool-a-Prat Day, but it also marks the Apple Corporation's well-deserved 30th Anniversary. I once used a Windows-based PC. It had its share of crashes, with the occasional reformats after some fatal errors, but I lived with it. Sure, I lost a few files, the programs with a few glitches here and there. It didn't match well with my AntiVirus for some peculiar reason. Then, it crashed and crippled. That was it. The CPU was beat. As if to rescue me, Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced to the World the awesome, low-cost mac:mini sometime around then. It was mine. It fit the bill.
Earth Day, 2005. It came and changed everything. We've eliminated every PC from my household and Here I am today.
The website you see before you was all done on a mac (well, not the blog, that's blogger's. But the coding was done on this mac, that counts). That's my story. Zero Crashes and Fatal Errors for the count. Take it or leave it, I'm part of the Cult of Mac. As a testament to ...er... something, my busted CPU is still in my room, acting as a nifty side table.
Apple made the first Computer with a user interface (Macintosh), they've revolutionised computer design (iMac) and they've successfully dominated the mp3 player market (iPod). What's left to do? We'll have to wait and see...

Meanwhile, I'm done with my latest hOP strip. This one celebrates April Fools' Day and Apple's 30th Anniversary as well. The Coolest thing? It's also the 30th strip. Cool Coincidence.

 Happy 30th, Apple.

The Collection Expands...
Day6416
Hard Saved Cash for Entertainment. What could be more worthwhile? Yeah, that's my current collection. Tetris DS is on the Way. I love the Nintendo DS. It's probably the dual screens that no other console has or can emulate. So what if it can't play videos (yet) or surf the net (yet). So what if the graphics aren't as "powerful" as the PSP. Folks are still buying it!
It's known that the DS was outselling the PSP 3 to 1 in Japan, isn't that great? Nintendo is focusing on what the PSP ain't. I'm not saying the PSP is bad, but it wasn't for me. I like my gadgets separate (Palm, DS and Video iPod). And Nintendo Announced yesterday that an upcoming Zelda for the DS and Namco's PointBlank are due this year, with "New Super Mario Brothers" to hit the DS this may (not a pun). Why am I mentioning these specifically? Because I'm gonna start saving for 'em. Glee!

V for Vivid Visionary.
Day6407
Back, fresh from "V for Vendetta". It has been a while since I went to the Movies. And This is, as mentioned, my first in-cinema NC16-rated flick, ID Card Checks included. No kids equals 'Great!'.
My FlicCritic (yes, it still exists.) Review is Below.
Moving along, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, has arrived in Singapore for an official, "stopping-over" visit, ironic since "Vendetta" showcases the blowing up of Britain's Parliament House. Reports have mentioned that she'll be going to Toa Payoh. Um...Whatever for? So, the end of this short break draws near. How damned it is that it has to go this fast. Speaking of 'damned', the Xbox360 has arrived here...enough about that, on with the 'view.

FlicCritic Review: "V for Vendetta" (NC16) Score: 8/10

I can't compare this with the Matrix Trilogy because it is a different story genre altogether, even though some of the prominent crew members from the Matrix Trilogy return for this movie. Hugo Weaving, a.k.a. "Agent Smith" also joins the film to be 'the man behind the mask'...um, he's 'V'. I somehow mistook the guy who played High Chancellor Adam Sutler (this guy, John Hurt) for Sir Ian McKellan (um...that guy). No Matter, it's a hella-good movie. I haven't read the Graphic Novel, which I heard was also worth a look, but reviewers have mentioned that this particular book-to-film adaptation was well done.
It is the Future Britain, speculating around the year 2020, run by a Totalitarian Government, one which strictly requires everyone to obey its laws. A Mysterious character, 'V' (Hugo Weaving), blows up the Old Bailey (Criminal Courthouse in the UK). The Government covers the situation up using the controlled TV Networks, BTN. Evey (Natalie Portman), who works in there, saves 'V' from possible capture after a Police raid. 'V' continues to kill everyone involved in the Government Coverup Conspiracy of the Larkhill Detention Facility, where he actually came from.
(Apologies, but I'll not reveal anything further, so go watch it yourself.)
Traces of "Matrix" elements can be seen in the Movie. Like the Knife-throw "Bullet Time" effects shown here. Hugo plays a very good 'V', but it's weird seeing a Mask Talk throughout the entire movie. Yes, the mask is never taken off. If I counted right, the word "bollocks" was said 9 times in the entire movie.

Conclusion? Very Well Done. A Great Movie.
Go Watch it. I'd give it an 8.

Bless the Movie Ratings...
Day6407
Probably the Worst movie experience for anyone is having to watch a great movie title with a bunch of active brats, screaming and uncontrollable, and those too young to even know where or what the hell is going on. I know, because I've seen them all.
I so, really, truly, glad that "V for Vendetta" is a sweet NC16 rated flick. I have to watch that for many reasons:
1) Cool Plot - Totalitarian Government, Masked Saviour
2) The makers of the Matrix Trilogy are back. Wachowski Brothers and Joel Silver, as Writers and Producer
3) Hugo Weaving (Matrix's Agent Smith) plays V.
4) A No-Kids Rating Given. The Calling for my First In-cinema NC16 Movie.
I already missed 3 movies (Goblet of Fire, Were-Rabbit, Dick and Jane) this year, and I ain't gonna miss this.

Cost-Effective and Space Saving!
Day6406
Webspace ain't cheap, so call me cheap.
I've Used "Save for Web" instead of plain "Save As..." for saving my hOP .psd files into lightweight jpeg files. This has Cut down my hopeless_op folder by half. So a normal 128KB jpg would now be about 62KB. Same Quality but smaller file sizes, which means faster loads for you guys. Yes!

Return of the Jude.
Day6402
That's not Sushi. That's Paper Rolls, complete with Cardboard dishes and Chopsticks that I once again creatively did. Neat, eh?
So the Tests are over and the Break Begins. Yeah! And Tetris DS comes out March 20th! Yeah!
That's my roundup. Time to Enjoy.

Watcher of the Flames.
Day6396
I'm delaying hOP28 for tomorrow as I did something else this week. Note that I already drew hOP28 last Saturday, I'm just delaying publication.
I drew something that intrigued me this whole week. That's Alexis, my no-planning anime-eyed character. "No Planning" because I drew this from air. That Dress sketch used to be a guy's cape, until I modified it and fell in love with what I did.
Sam gave me the name "Alexis" because I found the sketch so MMORPG-ish. This will be my first artwork in which I made non-lined eyes. I rarely do those, because I just can't handle major eye expressions.
I scanned it yesterday and went to "Photoshop" it, like my very, very ancient artworks of Hazel and Matt (eww...). I loaded up a few guides on firemaking and more importantly, 'Animanga' tips. Threw in what I knew about shadows and lighting, and Voilà! Alexis: Watcher of the Flames"
It's so western-world Japanese art, combined with my style of sketching. Enjoy!
