It's the NPXE!
A new Puff-x.com experience (No, I'm not really calling it that. That's stupid) on the website. I have released a new flash navigation (the old one is still here) that adds a more personal feel to navigation. Like everything that updates on this website it's all from things I've learned while having a life in design school, so the sliding effects have a meaning behind them.
There's a new games section showcasing the flash games I made over the months, also from school. and another section coming soon. Enjoy!

oh geez. Apple officially declares Macworld 2009 to be their last?! And Steve Jobs isn't gonna say goodbye?! There goes my hopes of ever attending a Macworld, Steve Jobs or no Steve Jobs.
In other news, a package is coming and things are gonna change around here...

The day the PS3 went out.
Technically the PS3 konked out on Thursday, but it can't be revived using troubleshooting methods, so I'm posting this now. The system was last seen working with LittleBigPlanet until it jerked and went blind, power light flashing red. No red on screen, so all hope is not lost.
I can't find answers, so I guess this is better left to some higher authority. Withdrawal symptoms... acting... up. WHY WHY WHY!!

It always gotta happen to me. Bringing my iPhone for 2.2's software update, when a Apple logo and a full bar stares back at me for an hour. I pulled the plug, corrupting the thing and panicked. ACK! What did I do?!
So the ordeal is over. I stink of panic sweat. I got 2.2 but I lost my music, videos and everything else. Good thing I backed up. Always back your crap up before you do diabolical updates, people. I'm getting my stuff back on as I type. Sure hope my Super Monkey Ball and MotionX Poker game data will be there. I'm not going back there again. Still irritated by the fact I had to crash the update to get the update. Why, Apple. Why?
In other news, I'm attempting GTAIV Story missions clearance in under 30 hours to get my Gold PS3 Trophy. I did in 4 hours what took me 13 days to do (well, not exactly 13 days. The delay between, more like). I'm slowly on my way.

Meet the New Flash Drive.
My old Cruzer died Monday morning, months after I wanged* it by reckless force. So now (ie. before it died), the USB head is slanted to one side and probably lost its contact with the rest of the drive over the weekend. Oh well. Now I have "Criskun Mk.II" with double storage capacity. Joy.
*Wanged, you know. As in hit something so hard it forms a dent. I dunno. It seems only I use that word that way.

"Free for Limited Time"
I frequent the App Store. I usually get things that cost nothing, with the occasional Paid Apps game purchases. What I usually look out for, however, are free apps that are free for a limited time. Those are awesome, because you still get any and all updates for free.
Here's the free apps that now cost money that I scored (links open to iTunes App Store):
Air Sharing - Makes a wireless hard drive out of your iPhone. 2 Week Introductory Offer. Now costs $6.99.
Aqua Forest - Liquid simulator. Free during this year's TGS as a promotion. Now costs $7.99.
MotionX Poker - Poker Dice Game. Best App Ever. Was $4.99, bought at $0.99. Now costs $1.99.
Scoops - Tilt-motion Game. Free as promotion. Ended yesterday. Now costs $0.99.
Space Monkey - Collect Space Junk. Now costs $0.99.
Round it all up, and that's about $17.96 in savings. Neat!

Opinion: The Nintendo DSi
Well, I think you've all heard. If not, then Nintendo announced their new DS iteration yesterday. The Nintendo DSi. It's a DS plus camera and music playback, minus the GBA Slot-2. This means I can no longer:
Now. This new device has a whole bunch of new software to go with it. Including the addition of something called DSiWare, downloadable games and/or applications that will run on the DS. This puts it on par with the PSP's PSP Store and the iPhone's App Store. I was interested in that. Having a camera sounds good too and it has music playback and bigger screens. But! The thing that lost my vote was the lack of a GBA slot.
The above are 5 good reasons why the DS may still surpass the DSi. Oh, and the DS Lite still has a better battery life. So. I think I'll hold on to my DSes for now. I'm sure Mario and Luigi RPG 3 and the new WarioWare will be made for all DS types anyway. My DS and my DS Lite are still in good working condition. Well, my DS Lite's R button's a bit wonky, but it's still good nonetheless.
(The picture is just my DS Lite with a bunch of stickers I drew and pasted on.)

His Name is Gai.

Those on Safari (and FF) see left. Those with IE see right.
A while back, I recoded my CSS and blog template so the whole world was happy. My blog was finally comprehensible on 'most all browsers, most importantly on IE. And before IE 8 is released, my, and probably THE war against IE will still go on with most of the world looking at broken CSS and tattered PNGs on IE6. I made a change yesterday (something I do rather often), and placed the blog off-center and put Gai in. It looked terrible on IE so I recoded and now IE loads the old CSS coding while everything else loads the new design. IE will be seeing the old design for a while. Nothin' I can do about that, or that I'm not bothered by allegedly inferior web browsers. (devilish laugh)
I'd like to add that the GEOTEK IE netrenderer is a great tool to see site designs on IE with a Mac. I use that rather often.

iPhone: Day 7
This is me on my first week with my WiFiPod. Well, okay, fine. My iPhone. I'm rather happy with it. Plus, I haven't run into any screw-ups yet. The lack of SMS forwarding has yet to be a problem, but no hard disk access or bluetooth transfer makes photo transfers a pain. The keyboard is surprisingly useful even with thick fingers like mine. My top concern is the reckless use of gprs on this thing, but a second menu page seems to fix that. The app store is amazing too. I'm having fun tipping monkeys off the playing field.
I have to say though, typing a long piece is tiring. Especially since I'm lying down. I like what I've got. And I'll always have my Sony Ericsson to back me up.
PS. I saw Apple's Let's Rock event. My favourite nano colour is orange.
PPS. I'm not being a corporate shill for Apple. I'm just another Apple fanboy.
The iPhone has its pros and cons. It's for you to decide.

The Future Begins Now!
I don't care what he says. I think this is a really neat implementation of e-Ink on a mag cover. I'd buy the mag just for this. The future of... Graphic... Design?

iPhone, therefore I shall.
I'll go ahead and take most of what I said on Wednesday back.
"Friday's the unleashment of the iPhone 3G here. Something of a price plan was in the papers this morning. Turned off. Figured that I may as well get an iPod Touch and not pay exorbitant phone fees every month. Besides, my Sony Ericsson was a bother to get, so I shan't go let that to waste."
Turns out that getting an iPod Touch (I was so into looking at a refurbished one) would cost more than getting one with current contract. Turns out I don't need to pay exorbitant fees when I'll retain my current line with StarHub (gasp), there's stuff around saying a "competition" SIM card works. Plus, I'm holding on to my Sony Ericsson. I'm sceptical about the iPhone's battery life.
I turn 20 on Friday. Bother.

Fooled Again.
We had another 3-man, 8-hour stint on ROCK BAND again. But we spent nearly an hour figuring out (read "failing over and over") "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who. I couldn't figure out the pitching or those damned lyrics. So that's the reason I tried getting most of the songs from the game on my iPod, listening to them over and over again, just like "Here It Goes Again". Now my new favourite is R.E.M.'s "Orange Crush", though "Maps" is fun to sing. The band has got a (practically empty) Rock Band page up.

It's 9 days till I turn 20. Oh my. (insert "wink-winks" and "hint-hints" here)

iPhone to hit Singtel!

The Rumours are true! The newspapes said it all. iPhone blahblah Next Week. Trouble! I don't use Singtel (rest of me family does). And we all know a no-contract deal will be $Exorbitant. Starhub best do something quick once the exclusivity ends.
In the meantime, here's something to slow down your decision, impulse buyers. Yes! Actual speeds may vary!

Newness.
New Game: Namely Grand Theft Auto IV. I think it's the best in the series. 10/10 points everywhere can't be wrong. You know the drill. Steal cars, do missions, 'off' enemies, push pedestrians around and bash criminals for cash. But all in HD and very good animation. When you plough a car at high speed, you'll FLY outta the windscreen. When you die (like after you plough a car at high speed) everything goes slo-mo and fades to black. I'm a wimp when it comes to these games so I'm sorta taking my time with the missions. Meantime, I push people around and pick criminals out with a stolen Police Cruiser for ammo and cash. Just like Burnout Paradise, I'd thought I get a feel of the 2 opening islands first. So I'm driving around for kicks.
New Opticals: My Paul Frank Blues Explosion glasses with transitions lenses have arrived. Pretty cool. The photochromic lenses turn from clear to shades on contact with UV. Neat. I look like some familiar Singapore Director. I'll leave that to you.
New Watch: I finally have a watch that'll take me 5 seconds to tell the time. It's a Nooka ZUB ZENV. Whatever that means. I'd like to point out that I've never seen this watch before I made hOP strip #74. I SWEAR.
That's all I've got. Yup. I'll be here.

Hooray for the Tech Department!
I realised what I saw and broke. I went nuts. Shock and Awe! "New computers. These were installed last week", the tech guy said. I got down, took a few pictures before the rest of the class came in. Everyone was excited... until the lecturer told us to move to room 06/10 because the Projector here wasn't working. Oh Bummer. 06/10 only had the displays and Mac Pros, but no 10.5 or new keyboard. Still, it was an awesome sight.
Oh and my matriculation card didn't work, so it had to be retained to find out why. Now I can't enter doors.

Guitar Hero.DS, iPhone.SG?
One. The method of control for Guitar Hero DS, dubbed, "On Tour", has been announced. It's a special controller adapter that plugs into the GBA slot during gameplay. This controller is the size of the average fist. A strap clings on to your hand as your 4 fingers lay on the 4 fret buttons while your other hand strums on the touch screen. This alone was a 'ZOMG' to me. That thing looks wicked awesome and it'll make my list of Killer Games to Get in 2008. Songs will include, not limited to, Master tracks of Nirvana and OK Go. Master tracks, yes, but will the DS's speakers ruin the experience? Two. MacNN.com has an article that claims that Singtel has clinched the deal to be the exclusive telco for the iPhone locally. True or not, it'll not be until September 2008. Singtel? C'mon. I mean... c'mon... But I remain on my stand that I don't like my gadgets all-in-one. I keep my Phone, iPod and Game consoles separate (The iPod touch doesn't count).
Three. I got my tickets for Pillowman. Collection fee sponsored by Mastercard, I'm on my way!

It'll be replaced by a HP Photosmart... something purchased during the IT Show '08. This printer will render my scanner useless because a scanner/copier comes in-built. Ah, Technology.

Battle of the MacBook Boxes!
-717806.jpg)

On one side, there's Dan. Holding a box in a non-descript shopping mall. On the other, there's me. Holding a box at home in my very room. Who has the MacBook? Do both of them have one? Or are both of them carrying empty boxes? The suspense is unbearable!

Overhaul'd!
I freakin' hate
I fixed the blog. Gave it a tune up. The blog is now centered nicely on Safari, Firefox and, for you @#$%! out there, IE.
IE has stupid CSS problems and IE7 is no bed of roses either. That browser is pure evil.
Anyway, enjoy the nice layout. I might throw in some other stuff soon. This blog is so 1024x768 only now. Drag the window until you can see Cris-kun and Midori-chan at the sides of the screen.

The Future Surfaces.
For once in these past five years, Microsoft has impressed me. The above is a Popular Mechanics video for the most "Minority Reportest" thing thus far. Microsoft Surface is a new-fangled "surface computer" that one can use on a regular coffee table. Think of it as a giant iPhone, having has a touch-sensitive surface for interaction. The thing that took me away was the place-your-device-on-the-table auto-sync function. (clap. clap. clap). It's 5 years in the making, and will cost approximately ten-grand.
I've seen and fiddled around with something similar on my iFuture experience at the Science Centre. It also had a touch-sensitive interface, but the sensors and projection were propped overhead. I'm just happy that a Minority Report touchy-touchy future lies ahead.
(I'd like to say once again that I'm not impressed with the iPhone. I'm impressed with the iPod functions and photo viewing on the iPhone, but nothing else on it).
In other news, I caught my Mesprit, completing the Pre-Elite Four Legendary Trio. That @#$%! Pokémon has been evading capture, flying around and around. I trained my Gastly to Lv48 and used a Mean Look before putting to sleep. I threw Ultra Ball after Ultra Ball, before it woke the thrid time and wiped out my Gastly. Threw out Dialga and a last Ultra Ball, knowing it would flee after that. But the ball shook 3 times and after 4 weeks of tracking it down, I caught it. Now to face the Pokémon League.

iPod Transparency.
I've seen the See-through Powerbook illusions on the internet. Those are cool. But I don't have a flat screen monitor nor a laptop LCD, so I used the next best thing: My iPod.
(I just ran my flickr 200-photo limit. I'll be shifting my wares to Picasa.)
